About Me
I tell school is just around the corner as I can feel its presence seeping into the household of mine.
I surely look at it in my own daughter's face. This morning, my child were equally as tired when she woke up as when she went to bed.
And it was not just physical fatigue... it was psychological and emotional...
While my daughter's a bit dismayed about English essays as well as math homework, that is not what is eating at her. That's pretty straightforward - a very high honors pupil, she knows one way to buckle down.
No - it's anticipating the crazy social pressures of high school that is getting to her. She had just finished a week of soccer camp and the dose of heavy-duty socializing was getting to her.
She simply paid a summer time free of the mucky, complex, often ugly peer environment of high school. She spent two plus blissful months not worrying about clothes or alpilean reviews amazon makeup, free of the gossip circles, working hard doing farm chores, mountain biking and swimming. Sometimes she met up with her friend K, she went to a few summer soccer matches. But separate from that she was home, having fun in a blend of her personal space and also the challenging but unquestioningly loving family living here.
My son faces various other challenges. His impulsive nature gets him in trouble and his too-clever-for-his-own-good brain gets him into the habit of lying (or stretching the truth really long) about his misdeeds. He's to gear himself up to focus despite the distractions of his friends. As a charismatic guy who other children flock to, he's to develop to take that as a responsibility for good leadership. Not an incentive to become the class clown or daredevil.
These problems are nothing new. The children of mine are now 12 and 15. But they've faced these particular personal problems and others like them since they were tiny.
And this is why I advocate family fitness so much. I have watched both my kids flourish on the total amount of family time we spend together. Plus I have noticed the especially heady blend of family time and physical activity work wonders for helping my kids learn resilience, self-awareness, discipline, and confidence.
